Hot off the presses...the 2008 PWV Members Field Guide (aka Resource Guide) will be available to all members beginning May 7 at Kick-off Night. This expanded edition is the finest yet with new chapters, new trail (patrol) descriptions, maps and profiles. This 220 page book continues the tradition of field guide excellence. Thanks to Jim Shaklee, managing editor, and the large number of contributors.
New recruits will get the complete guide in a binder. Returning members may pick up guide pages for their own binders at Kick-off Night. If you are unable to do so then, guide pages will be available at Spring Training. If you will not be at Spring Training, the guide pages will be available in the PWV locker at the Canyon Lakes Ranger District Visitor Center.
If you need a set mailed to you, arrangements will need to be made with Jim Shaklee.

Attention PWV Members: Do you know where you are? |

You are at the PWV "Public" website. You may not have been aware that there was more than one and probably didn't give much thought as to why there would be more than one. This is why some people have been logging into this website and wondering why they can't get to the scheduling page. The scheduling and reporting page (PWV "members" website) is a on a server that is managed by the Canyon Lakes Ranger District and is used by all of their volunteer groups, not just PWV. The PWV "public" website (this site) is managed by our volunteers. The two sites serve completely different needs. Still, this causes confusion. Therefore, we refer to one (this one) as the public site and the other as the scheduling site. Does this make sense? |

PWV was recently awarded three grants to support its Trail Crew and Weed Crew operations in 2008. The Larimer County Open Lands Small Grants Program (LCOLSGP) awarded PWV two separate grants. One grant will provide funds to purchase tools and other supplies to support Trail Maintenance Crew operations, both in 2008 and future years. Items such as 21”-Corona saws and scabbards, axes, wedges, hand pruners, loppers, safety gear, trail maps, and work gloves will be acquired and used in both the 3 or 4 scheduled Trail Crew trips this year, and to support quick-response trail maintenance activities (a new activity this year) undertaken throughout the season by Trail Crew members. The second LCOLSGP award will provide funds to purchase tools, supplies, and some training materials to support Weed Crew operations this year and in the future. We plan to acquire hand pruners, hand picks and a variety of shovels and spades, safety gear, and work gloves for field use. In addition, these funds will allow us to purchase weed ID cards, and to print some copies of the 2008 PWV Invasive Weeds Training Manual for Weed Crew participants. |
